For supporters of Ousmane Sonko, the present political moment feels like a profound betrayal of the promises and partnership that brought hope to millions.

What inspires us is Sonko’s response: composure instead of surrender, loyalty to principle instead of personal revenge, and a continued insistence that Senegal’s institutions, resources, and future belong to its people. In the face of what supporters perceive as exclusion and broken trust, he has represented resilience, discipline, and faith in democratic action.

This tribute honors the courage to endure pressure without abandoning the vision: justice, dignity, sovereignty, accountable government, and opportunity for every Senegalese citizen. History will judge leaders by evidence and results; citizens must remain peaceful, vigilant, and free to debate that record.

Our Mission

Senegal’s Resources. Senegal’s Sovereignty. Senegal’s Future.

LESONKISTE stands for one fundamental principle: Senegal belongs to the Senegalese people, and Senegal’s resources must serve the Senegalese people first.

Our oil, gas, fisheries, minerals, land, infrastructure, and strategic assets are the inheritance of our people and future generations. Their management must be guided by sovereignty, transparency, accountability, and Senegal’s national interest.

We support the political vision and program associated with Ousmane Sonko and PASTEF for national sovereignty, economic independence, institutional accountability, and the responsible management of Senegal’s resources.

Political independence without economic sovereignty is incomplete. Senegal must control its destiny, defend its strategic interests, develop its industries, create opportunities for its youth, and ensure that the wealth of our nation improves the lives of our people.

Our Course Is Clear

LESONKISTE will not be diverted from these objectives by political convenience, personal ambition, intimidation, pressure, or opportunism.

No political party, alliance, movement, organization, or personality will deter us from peacefully and lawfully pursuing our stated goals.

And our sovereignty is not negotiable abroad.

No foreign government, foreign power, corporation, institution, or outside interest will coerce us into backing down from the legitimate pursuit of Senegal’s sovereignty and national interests.

Senegal will cooperate with the world, but cooperation must be based on mutual respect—not submission. We welcome partnerships that respect our sovereignty and benefit our people. We reject political or economic pressure intended to make Senegal abandon its legitimate national interests.

Accountability and Memory

Political commitment carries responsibility. LESONKISTE will maintain a factual and publicly verifiable record of political figures who leave PASTEF for other political organizations.

This is about accountability and historical documentation—not intimidation, harassment, threats, or retaliation.

History must remember those who stood firm, those who sacrificed, and the political choices that shaped the movement.

We Will Not Abandon Our Own

LESONKISTE stands with Sonkistes who are detained, imprisoned, prosecuted, or injured in connection with their political activities.

We will work to mobilize lawful assistance—including access to legal representation, support for detainees and their families, assistance for the injured, and advocacy for due process and humane treatment.

No Sonkiste should be forgotten or abandoned.

Our determination will remain peaceful, lawful, civic, and democratic. We will defend our principles with discipline, because determination is strongest when it is guided by purpose rather than anger.

Senegal First: Dignity, Justice and Sovereignty

Inspired by the patriotic vision defended by Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, Lesonkiste calls on Senegalese citizens—at home and across the diaspora—to build a sovereign, just and prosperous nation rooted in our history, culture and collective strength.

Our Land, Our People, Our Destiny

Senegal belongs to its people. Our soil, ocean, minerals, energy and human talent must serve the common good—not enrich a privileged few or distant interests.

Defending our destiny means protecting community land, restoring fisheries, processing oil, gas and minerals at home, strengthening food security, and investing national wealth in education, health, infrastructure and dignified work. Every strategic-resource contract must be transparent and judged by the lasting value it creates for Senegalese families.

Farmers, fishers, workers, youth, women, local communities and the diaspora must have a meaningful voice in development, while future generations inherit a country whose environment, culture and sovereignty remain intact.

These commitments belong together. Sovereignty loses meaning if citizens are excluded from national wealth, culture is weakened, or vulnerable people are left without protection. We defend development that joins material progress to moral responsibility, public safety and respect for human dignity.

National renewal must be lived in families, schools, workplaces, places of worship and public institutions. Each generation has a duty to preserve what is honorable, correct what causes harm and hand the country forward stronger than it received it.

Taking Back Our Country

Real independence means that Senegal decides its own economic, diplomatic and cultural path. Public institutions must answer to citizens and manage national wealth transparently.

Taking the country back means rebuilding institutions around public service: open budgets, enforceable anti-corruption rules, fair taxation, responsible debt, local procurement and measurable results. It also means producing and processing more at home so national resources create Senegalese skills, enterprises and employment.

Sovereignty must be practical. Food, energy, digital infrastructure and monetary policy should become sources of resilience, while foreign partnerships must respect reciprocity, national law and Senegalese priorities.

A sovereign republic publishes how public money is raised and spent, gives citizens access to reliable information, and imposes consequences for corruption or abuse. Leadership is a temporary public trust, never a private possession.

Economic independence also requires patient national capacity: skilled workers, strong local firms, modern infrastructure, credible regulation and institutions able to negotiate firmly with every external partner.

Patriot Front

Patriotism is service, discipline and solidarity. It unites citizens beyond region, ethnicity, religion, gender or social class around the defense of Senegal’s national interest.

A patriot front is built through peaceful democratic participation, ethical leadership and service before personality. It welcomes every citizen prepared to protect public institutions, reject corruption, listen across differences and turn national unity into visible work.

Youth, women and the diaspora must be full partners. Their knowledge, leadership, investment and creativity can strengthen African solidarity and build a future in which opportunity is earned fairly and responsibility is shared.

Unity does not require uniformity. Citizens may disagree strongly while respecting law, rejecting intimidation and working together wherever the national interest is shared. A durable patriotic movement makes room for debate and measures loyalty by service.

Its strength is visible in civic education, voter participation, mentoring, community problem-solving and accountable leadership—not merely in speeches or symbols.

Truth as a foundation

Historical truth should lead to knowledge, remembrance and repair. Archives must be accessible, evidence carefully examined, cultural property responsibly returned and the experiences of colonized peoples placed at the center of their own history.

Facing the past honestly does not prevent future cooperation. It creates the conditions for partnerships based on informed consent, reciprocity, accountability and equal dignity.

Justice for Hidden Debt, Public Resources, and the Victims

The February 2025 audit by Senegal’s Court of Auditors documented serious discrepancies in the public accounts covering 2019 through March 2024. The IMF subsequently reported major under-reporting of deficits and debt and previously undisclosed liabilities. These official findings demand a complete, independent investigation into decisions made under former President Macky Sall, including the responsibility of every minister, authorizing officer, senior official, public-enterprise director, intermediary and private beneficiary supported by evidence.

Lesonkiste calls for Macky Sall and all relevant former officials to face lawful investigation and, wherever prosecutors find sufficient admissible evidence, prosecution before an independent court. No former president is above the law. Any arrest, warrant, remand order or detention must nevertheless be issued by a competent judicial authority under Senegalese law—not imposed as punishment by political declaration. Guilt must be established through evidence and a fair trial.

The hidden-debt crisis is not an abstract accounting dispute. Undisclosed liabilities and the resulting pressure on public finances can reduce the resources available for services, employment and relief from the high cost of living. At the same time, young Senegalese continue to risk irregular routes through the Atlantic, the Sahara and North Africa toward Europe. The International Organization for Migration warns that deaths and disappearances on these routes are undercounted. National wealth must give young people reasons and opportunities to build their future at home.

Justice is also owed to families of people killed during protests between 2021 and 2024. Amnesty International has documented deaths and called for prompt, independent and impartial investigations into unlawful use of force. Political responsibility must be debated; individual criminal responsibility must be established by investigators and courts. Every chain of command, order, deployment and use of lethal force should be examined, and anyone proved responsible should be prosecuted according to law.

Public accountability register

This page will publish names only when each entry is supported by an official audit, charging document, court decision or other verifiable primary evidence. The register will identify the person, former office, documented conduct, source, legal status and amount at issue. Allegation, charge and conviction will never be presented as the same thing.
